My name is Charlene Carroll, and I am a former Rodney Fair and C.N.E. Ambassador of the Fairs. Truthfully, back in 1997, participating in the Rodney Ambassador competition was not on my radar. It was the Crinan Women’s Institute who asked me if I would be interested in participating, and offered to sponsor me. Without this suggestion and their belief in me, I would not have won these titles or gained so many unique experiences.
Sometimes, young adults need the confidence boost of being ASKED by a sponsor! Consider sponsoring a young adult to gain:
· Community leadership opportunities at the fair and throughout the year
· Increased confidence in public speaking
· A stronger appreciation for their hometown fair, dedicated volunteers, and the agriculture industry
· A chance to attend the O.A.A.S. Convention and meet Ambassadors from all over Ontario
· A 3-day weekend in Toronto, all expenses paid, to participate in the C.N.E. Ambassador of the Fairs competition (requires the Rodney competition to have 3 competitors)
· A unique title on your resume for future school and job prospects
· 3 months of free online Personal Training with my company, Dexterity Fitness
· A $1500 Bursary donated by Salus Mutual Insurance!
Consider asking a young adult you believe in, to believe in themselves and proudly represent the Rodney-Aldborough Fair we all love! Or, increase the excitement and value of this life-changing experience by making a donation or sharing a gift of any size for the competitors and/or winner!
